University of Wisconsin-Madison, MS Special Education

Jay, though born in Madison, grew up in Whitefish Bay, WI. and then moved back to Madison for his college education. He enjoyed Madison life and found a challenging education career, so Madison became home. After a couple years as a substitute teacher, he joined the staff at La Follette High School and worked in the Special Education Dept. with a focus on teaching English and reading strategies for students with dyslexia.  Besides his teaching duties, Jay had a private tutoring practice with a focus on reading and math, which led to a tutoring position in the UW-Madison Athletic Dept. Subsequently, he accepted a permanent full-time position as an Academic Specialist, which involved mentoring and tutoring student-athletes. Jay has always enjoyed the challenge of fostering students’ success. In addition to an academic life, Jay enjoys traveling, Badger sports, running, tennis and weekly trivia outings with friends.
