She has been working in education since her graduate school work, where she worked as an Intervention Specialist in Chicago Public Schools. After receiving her Masters Degree and teaching license in the state of Illinois, she worked in the University of Chicago Charter School network as a 5th grade teacher. Kohl then went on to teach in Japan and Costa Rica, working at extremely diverse international private schools as an elementary and middle school teacher before deciding to return to Madison to further her career in higher education. She currently is a program manager and instructor at UW-Madison. In her free time, Kohl enjoys reading non-fiction, writing poetry, traveling, being active, and playing with her french bulldog Espresso.
