As the spring semester wraps up, most students are focused on finals and summer plans. Reflection is probably the last thing on your mind, which is understandable!
But if you don’t reflect now, you’ll likely forget what actually needs to change, and fall can end up looking a lot like spring.
Why Reflection Matters
By the time fall semester starts, it’s easy to reset without really thinking about it. After summer you might not remember, or not want to think about, what stressed you out, what worked, and what didn’t.
Taking 15–20 minutes now helps you start next semester with a plan instead of guessing when the time comes.
5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Summer Starts
Keep it simple and try to be honest with yourself:
- What actually worked this semester?
- Where did things fall apart?
- What stressed you out the most?
- What do you want next semester to feel like?
- What classes do you think will be toughest for you?
Use What You Learned
Before you fully switch into well deserved summer mode, write down 2–3 small goals for the fall. For example:
- Check assignments daily
- Start studying earlier
- Ask for help sooner
Nothing fancy or indepth, just focus on being realistic.
Small Changes Can Go a Long Way
You don’t need a perfect system. You might need a better one than last semester.
A little reflection now makes it way easier to follow through when fall starts.
